We are seeking a Clinical Operations Trainer with strong clinical operations experience working with Medical Assistants and healthcare providers to support our Michigan practices. This role is ideal for someone who understands the day-to-day realities of a busy medical practice and has a passion for teaching, coaching, and helping clinical teams work together effectively.

As a member of the Clinical Operations Training team, you will support onboarding, training, and ongoing development for Medical Assistants, providers, and other practice team members across the Michigan market. You will provide hands-on training and “at-the-elbow” support to reinforce standardized clinical workflows, effective EMR use, efficient patient flow, and consistent operational practices.

The Clinical Operations Trainer will partner closely with practice managers, clinical and operational leaders, providers, Learning & Development, and subject matter experts to identify training needs and ensure both new and existing team members have the knowledge and tools necessary to deliver an exceptional patient experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver hands-on, virtual, and in-person training for Medical Assistants, providers, and other clinical team members.
  • Support role-based onboarding and training for newly hired Medical Assistants and providers.
  • Provide “at-the-elbow” support to help team members effectively apply clinical workflows, operational processes, and EMR functionality in the practice setting.
  • Partner with Medical Assistants and providers to reinforce workflows that support efficient patient flow, strong clinical teamwork, and a positive patient experience.
  • Assess individual and practice-level training needs and identify opportunities for additional education, coaching, or workflow support.
  • Partner with practice managers, providers, clinical leaders, Learning & Development, and subject matter experts to ensure training reflects current workflows, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Support newly acquired and integrating practices by assessing training needs and implementing regional and practice-specific training plans.
  • Facilitate training related to clinical workflows, operational processes, EMR functionality, new technology, and process changes.
  • Help Medical Assistants and providers effectively adopt new workflows, tools, and operational initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, including presentations, facilitator guides, job aids, practical exercises, and supporting resources.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, observation, reporting, and available performance metrics.
  • Adapt training and coaching approaches based on the needs and experience levels of Medical Assistants, providers, and other learners.
  • Build strong relationships with clinical and non-clinical teams and serve as a trusted resource for clinical operations, workflows, and training.
  • Collaborate with regional training teams and Learning & Development partners to share feedback and continuously improve training programs.
  • Model professionalism, accountability, adaptability, and a patient-centered approach.
  • Manage multiple training priorities and initiatives across practices throughout the Michigan market.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3 years of experience in a medical practice, ambulatory care, primary care, or comparable healthcare environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience working directly with Medical Assistants and healthcare providers in a clinical or practice setting.
  • Previous experience training, onboarding, precepting, mentoring, or coaching clinical team members strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Medical Assistant responsibilities, provider workflows, and day-to-day practice operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years of EMR experience; Athena experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting clinical workflows, EMR adoption, and efficient patient flow.
  • Ability to confidently facilitate both in-person and virtual training.
  • Strong coaching skills with the ability to provide clear, constructive, and actionable feedback.
  • Ability to assess individual learning needs and adapt training approaches for different roles and experience levels.
  • Ability to build credibility and effective working relationships with providers, Medical Assistants, practice managers, and operational leaders.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating across clinical, operational, and Learning & Development teams.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing healthcare environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and personal accountability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business technology.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, organizational development, business, education, or a related field preferred; relevant clinical operations and training experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Medical Assistant, clinical operations, practice management, or comparable healthcare experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting provider and Medical Assistant onboarding and training strongly preferred.
  • Integration or practice onboarding experience preferred.
  • Experience developing or delivering role-based clinical training preferred.
  • Adult learning, instructional design, or curriculum development experience is a plus.

Travel

This position is based in Michigan and requires approximately 50% travel to practices and other locations within the region. Candidates should be comfortable traveling between practices and providing hands-on support in the clinical environment.

You can comfortably work alongside Medical Assistants and providers, explain the “why” behind a workflow, demonstrate best practices, troubleshoot issues in real time, and help clinical teams translate training into their everyday work.

You bring clinical credibility, strong relationship-building skills, and a trainer’s mindset.
