CNC Setup / Operator / Trainer
DEPARTMENT: Fabrication / Machining
JOB TITLE: CNC Setup / Operator / Trainer
REPORTS TO: Fabrication Supervisor
SHIFT / HOURS: 1st shift 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday to Thursday. Friday and Saturday scheduled as needed.
STARTING PAY: Up to $29/hour based on experience.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We’re looking for an experienced, detail-driven CNC professional to join our Fabrication team as a CNC Setup / Operator / Trainer. In this role, you are more than a machine operator—you are a technical mentor and trusted resource who helps ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality machining operations.
THINGS YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Set up CNC milling machines, including tooling, fixtures, offsets, and program loading.
- Operate CNC mills to produce parts to engineering specifications and tight tolerances.
- Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions.
- Perform first-piece inspections and adjust offsets as needed.
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools.
- Monitor tooling wear and machine performance.
- Troubleshoot tooling, setup, and program issues.
- Train and coach CNC operators on setup, operation, and safety.
- Develop and maintain setup sheets and training materials.
- Support cross-training and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Communicate quality or safety concerns promptly.
THINGS YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE
- 3–5 years of CNC milling setup and operation experience.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T.
- Knowledge of G-code/M-code fundamentals and CNC controls.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools.
- Strong communication and training skills.
- Troubleshooting experience in a production machining environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience training CNC operators.
- Lean manufacturing or 5S experience.
- CAM software familiarity (Mastercam, Fusion 360, etc.).
- Forklift experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Manufacturing environment with machinery and noise.
- Standing and operating machines for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Use of required PPE.
- Visual acuity for inspection and measurement.
