About the Role:
Bolton Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Licensed Architect to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architectural design, permitting, and construction documentation, with a focus on practical, buildable solutions. This role requires technical precision, creative problem-solving, and a commitment to high-quality design that aligns with client needs, safety standards, and long-term sustainability. The position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a variety of projects across Hawaiʻi Island.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of architectural plans, drawings, and specifications for new construction, renovations, and site planning
- Ensure designs meet local building codes, permitting requirements, and sustainability goals
- Collaborate with in-house engineering, surveying, and construction teams for seamless project execution
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and change orders
- Participate in site visits to monitor project progress and resolve field conditions
- Communicate clearly with clients, consultants, and team members throughout all project phases
- Support planning and design decisions with technical analysis and code research
Qualifications
- Current architectural license in the State of Hawaiʻi (or eligibility to obtain)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
- 5 years of relevant experience in architectural design and construction oversight
- Proficiency in design software (CAD, Vectorworks, SketchUp, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of local building codes, permitting, ADA, and sustainable design practices
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively
- Familiarity with design-build processes a plus
