Position Overview
The Environmental Compliance Coordinator is a key member of the Operations Support HSE Group, responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and supports the achievement of the company’s HSE goals, with a strong emphasis on Water Program Management.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in wastewater/stormwater permitting, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC/SPC) plans, dredge permitting, and conducting compliance inspections and regulatory reporting.

This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and supports the achievement of the company’s HSE goals, with a strong emphasis on Water Program Management.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in wastewater/stormwater permitting, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC/SPC) plans, dredge permitting, and conducting compliance inspections and regulatory reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a primary advocate for HSE policies, objectives, and directives across all operations.
- Develop, implement, and manage policies, procedures, and plans related to wastewater/stormwater compliance.
- Deliver training sessions and materials to enhance environmental management and compliance awareness.
- Perform internal inspections to verify adherence to federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies.
- Assist with external audits conducted by regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and manage permit applications, including LPDES, NPDES, dredge, and pretreatment permits.
- Maintain and update SPCC/SPC and SWPPP documents in accordance with regulations.
- Support facility personnel with sampling, monitoring, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Serve as a liaison with federal, state, and local regulatory bodies for permitting and reporting activities.
- Carry out other duties as directed by management.
- B.S. degree in Environmental Science, Environmental or Environmental Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in environmental water program compliance is required.
- Desired wastewater/stormwater program experience in Louisiana and Mississippi.
- Strong understanding of applicable HSE regulations, especially related to water compliance, in the shipbuilding and repair industry.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
