Job Summary/Basic Function
Prepares and analyzes financial reports, making studies or recommendations relative to the accounting of assets, revenues, and expenditures. Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications reported on the financial statements of the Foundation. Provide information to the Foundation staff regarding accounting practices and procedures and reconciling general ledger accounts. This position assumes the role of a subject matter expert on assigned topics.

A nonprofit Idaho organization, the Boise State University Foundation was established in 1964 for the benefit of Boise State University. We work to build relationships and support for the university by developing and nurturing donor-centered relationships and stewarding gifts made in support of Boise State. The Foundation works closely with university leadership, the Boise State University Alumni Association, and the Bronco Athletic Association.

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.
Essential Functions
60% of the time the Accountant must:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 2 years experience.
Salary And Benefits

Essential Functions
60% of the time the Accountant must:
- Prepares complex financial reports, schedules and special studies requiring a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures for both internal and external financial reporting requirements and year end audit. Analytical review of complex account reconciliations. Prepares and files annual financial statements for the Foundation departments and programs. Prepare schedules to manage and forecast budget to actual financial results.
- Interprets, applies and explains complex laws, codes, regulations or ordinances. Research and analyze data for accuracy, trends, and variances to ensure appropriate accounting procedures have been followed for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and University and Foundation policy.
- Routinely makes decisions regarding proper processing, booking and reporting of transactions. Develop and monitor financial procedures and controls for internal financial budget to actual reporting, cash handling systems, disbursements, etc. Reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures.
- Prepares Accounts Payable requests for review and payment, requiring a broad knowledge of Foundation accounting codes, policies, and 1099 tax reporting, while supporting both internal and external financial reporting requirements.
- Records and reconciles daily deposits to ensure accuracy.
- Performs monthly reconciliations for local accounts at the University and University purchasing card (P-Card) transactions.
- Provides timely and consistent financial and fund balance reporting to University and Foundation stakeholders, and conducts additional research as required.
- Assists with the preparation of journal entries and ensures appropriate accounting classifications for financial statement reporting.
- Shares responsibility for monitoring and responding to inquiries received through the Foundation Accounting inbox, providing timely assistance and directing requests as appropriate.
- Performs account reconciliation and resolves discrepancies, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience preparing reconciliations, financial statements, schedules, reports and/or audit support documentation.
- Experience interpreting, applying and explaining complex regulations, policies, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of governmental, non-profit and fund accounting practices and principles preferred.
- Attention to detail.
- Experience in effective data presentation using Excel and/or other spreadsheet computer applications.
- Demonstrated experience in financial analysis and budget management.

Salary range is $60,673.60 to $75,836.80 annually and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
