Bogush Mechanical DBA Public Sewer Service Division
Caldwell, NJ Full Time
POSTED ON 8/20/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/17/2026

Company - Bogush Mechanical DBA Public Sewer Service Division

We are a large New Jersey contractor specializing in commercial sewer & drain cleaning, high pressure jetter & vacuum truck service, CCTV pipeline inspection, and sewer & water main excavation and repair. We’re hiring managers who can lead—whether you’re a proven service/operations manager or a strong field leader ready to step into management. With the resources of a large contracting firm, you’ll have a real support team behind you and growth opportunities that are truly limitless.

Manage a Commercial Sewer and Drain Cleaning Service Department

We are seeking an experienced Service Operations Manager to take ownership of our service department. This is a high-level leadership position, but it is not a desk-only corporate role. The person we hire will be directly involved in the daily operation—dispatching crews, estimating work, preparing proposals, solving field problems, communicating with customers, managing technicians, reviewing job documentation, and moving completed work through billing.

This position is for an experienced sewer and drain professional who understands the work, speaks the language of the field, and can confidently lead both technicians and customers.

What You Will Own

You will be responsible for the service department from the initial customer call through successful completion and billing.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Directing and managing the daily operation of the commercial sewer and drain service department
  • Scheduling and dispatching technicians, vacuum trucks, jetter crews, and CCTV inspection crews throughout New Jersey
  • Matching the correct personnel, equipment, and service method to each job
  • Gathering job information, determining scope, identifying potential complications, and setting clear expectations before crews are dispatched
  • Estimating commercial sewer cleaning, high-pressure jetting, vacuum work, CCTV inspection, and related projects
  • Preparing accurate scopes of work, proposals, pricing, and change orders
  • Communicating professionally with facility managers, property managers, school personnel, engineers, contractors, purchasing departments, and other decision-makers
  • Providing knowledgeable technical guidance to customers and field personnel
  • Supporting crews when conditions in the field change or technical decisions must be made
  • Reviewing technician notes, photographs, CCTV findings, labor, equipment usage, disposal charges, and other job documentation
  • Ensuring completed work orders are accurate, complete, and ready for prompt billing
  • Coordinating customer purchase orders, prevailing-wage documentation, certified payroll information, and other project requirements when applicable
  • Managing, training, coaching, and holding technicians and crew leaders accountable
  • Setting performance expectations and addressing attendance, workmanship, communication, safety, and productivity issues
  • Monitoring scheduling efficiency, overtime, equipment utilization, job profitability, callbacks, response times, and customer satisfaction
  • Helping recruit, onboard, develop, and retain qualified field personnel
  • Coordinating equipment availability, maintenance needs, and service priorities with the appropriate personnel
  • Enforcing company safety procedures and professional jobsite standards
  • Identifying opportunities to improve pricing, workflow, documentation, communication, and overall department performance
  • Providing the owner and senior management with accurate reporting on workload, revenue, staffing, customer issues, and department performance

Required Industry Experience

This is not an entry-level management position. Applicants must have meaningful experience in commercial sewer and drain cleaning, wastewater collection services, industrial services, or a closely related field.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least five years of directly relevant sewer, drain, wastewater collection, plumbing service, or industrial field-service experience
  • Previous responsibility for managing technicians, operators, foremen, or field-service crews
  • Strong working knowledge of vacuum trucks, high-pressure water jetting equipment, sewer cleaning methods, and CCTV sewer inspection equipment
  • The ability to discuss sewer and drain problems intelligently with experienced technicians and commercial customers
  • Experience evaluating job conditions and determining appropriate equipment, personnel, estimated time, and pricing
  • Experience preparing estimates, proposals, work orders, and customer-facing scopes of work
  • A practical understanding of commercial service operations, emergency response, scheduling, job costing, and billing
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to earn the respect of experienced field personnel
  • The judgment to make sound operational decisions in a fast-moving service environment
  • Excellent customer communication, follow-up, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfort using dispatching, estimating, work-order, email, spreadsheet, and billing software
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to visit jobsites when operational support is needed

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are valuable but not necessarily required:

  • Experience managing a high-volume commercial sewer and drain service department
  • Experience working with schools, commercial facilities, property management companies, municipalities, engineers, or institutional customers
  • Experience reviewing and explaining CCTV inspection findings
  • OSHA, confined-space, traffic-control, or related safety training
  • CDL or prior commercial vehicle experience
  • Familiarity with New Jersey public-work, prevailing-wage, or certified-payroll requirements
  • Experience managing departmental revenue, gross margin, labor utilization, and other performance measurements

A college degree is not required, but preferred. Direct industry knowledge, leadership ability, sound judgment, and a history of producing results are more important.

The Leader We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • Takes ownership instead of waiting to be told what to do
  • Remains calm and decisive when schedules change or emergencies arise
  • Understands both the technical work and the business side of a service department
  • Communicates directly, professionally, and respectfully
  • Holds people accountable while helping them succeed
  • Protects customer relationships without giving away the company’s time or services
  • Pays attention to details and follows jobs through to completion
  • Understands that excellent service must also be safe, efficient, well documented, and profitable
  • Is comfortable being the central point of responsibility for the department

How Success Will Be Measured

Success in this position will be measured by:

  • Safe, properly staffed, and efficiently completed jobs
  • Strong technician performance and accountability
  • Accurate estimates and profitable work
  • Reduced callbacks and preventable service issues
  • Fast, complete job documentation and billing turnaround
  • Effective use of personnel and equipment
  • High customer satisfaction and retention
  • Clear communication between the office, field crews, customers, and ownership
  • Consistent improvement in department organization and financial performance
