Bob Sumerel Tire Company is seeking a skilled and motivated Tire Technician to join our retail service team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing fast, accurate, and high-quality tire services to our passenger and light truck customers. You will also perform essential maintenance services including oil changes, wheel rotations, flat repairs, and light mechanical work. This is a hands-on, customer-facing position that plays a critical role in delivering the service experience our customers count on.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Tire Services
- Mount, dismount, and balance passenger and light truck tires on a wide variety of vehicle types
- Perform tire installations including bead seating, valve stem replacement, and TPMS sensor service
- Execute flat tire repairs using industry-standard plug and patch methods
- Conduct wheel rotations per manufacturer torque and service specifications
- Inspect tires for wear patterns, damage, and safety concerns; advise customers accordingly
- Accurately match tires to vehicle fitment specifications using reference guides and software
Maintenance & Light Mechanical Services
- Perform conventional and synthetic oil changes, including filter replacement and fluid top-offs
- Complete multi-point vehicle inspections and document findings for customer review
- Perform brake inspections and basic brake component replacement (pads, rotors) as assigned
- Assist with light mechanical tasks including battery replacement, wiper blades, and cabin air filters
- Check and adjust fluid levels, tire pressure, and other routine maintenance items
Shop Operations & Safety
- Operate tire mounting machines, balancers, alignment equipment, and vehicle lifts safely and proficiently
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company standards
- Properly dispose of used oil, tires, and materials per environmental and regulatory guidelines
- Accurately record labor and services performed in the point-of-sale system
- Communicate service findings and recommendations to service advisors and customers in a professional manner
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in a tire or automotive service environment
- Proficiency mounting, balancing, and repairing passenger and light truck tires
- Ability to safely operate vehicle lifts and automotive service equipment
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 60 lbs throughout the course of a shift
