Server

The Server is responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences through friendly, attentive, and efficient table service in a fast-paced waterfront restaurant and event venue. This position plays a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests, ensuring accurate food and beverage service, and supporting the overall success of restaurant and banquet operations.

Key Areas of Accountability

Guest Experience & Hospitality

• Welcome every guest with a friendly, upbeat, and professional attitude.
• Deliver exceptional service while creating memorable guest experiences.
• Build relationships with regular guests and encourage repeat business.
• Anticipate guest needs and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of menu offerings, daily specials, and promotions.
• Work collaboratively with bartenders, hosts, kitchen staff, and fellow servers to ensure seamless service.

Food & Beverage Service

• Accurately take guest food and beverage orders using the POS system.
• Deliver food and beverages promptly while ensuring presentation and accuracy.
• Make menu recommendations and confidently answer questions regarding ingredients, preparation, and allergens.
• Upsell appetizers, desserts, specialty beverages, and featured menu items.
• Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience and respond quickly to requests.
• Process guest payments accurately and efficiently.

Dining Room Operations

• Prepare dining areas before service, including table setup and station stocking.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of dining rooms, service stations, and work areas.
• Reset tables quickly and efficiently to maintain smooth table turnover.
• Complete assigned opening, side work, and closing duties.
• Assist with maintaining adequate supplies including glassware, silverware, napkins, condiments, and service items.

Restaurant & Event Support

• Provide exceptional service during banquets, catering events, and private functions.
• Assist with event setup, execution, and breakdown as assigned.
• Work efficiently during high-volume periods while maintaining service standards.
• Support teammates by assisting with food running, bussing tables, and guest requests when needed.
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all health department regulations and food safety guidelines.
• Verify guest identification and comply with all New York State liquor laws when serving alcoholic beverages.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Report equipment issues or maintenance concerns promptly.
• Practice safe food handling and sanitation procedures at all times.

Qualifications

• Previous serving experience preferred (restaurant or high-volume environment).
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of food, beverages, and responsible alcohol service preferred.
• Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
• Positive attitude with a team-first mindset.
• Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
• TIPS or comparable alcohol service certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience with POS systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Ability to safely carry multiple plates, trays, bus tubs, and service equipment.
• Comfortable working evenings, weekends, holidays, and outdoor service areas.
