What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President, Technology Control Management position at BNY Mellon?
We're seeking a future team member for the role of Technology Controls Specialist to join our 1LoD Risk & Controls Practice team.
This role is located in Pittsburgh.
In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- Execute the Platform's technology controls activities, helping ensure technology risks are identified, monitored, and remediated in alignment with risk appetite.
- Continuously monitor for emerging technology control failures, gaps, or stress points to support the earliest possible resolution.
- Identify and analyze trends, control issues, and recurring themes; recommend remediation approaches and integrate outcomes into reporting.
- Support Platform adherence to technology policy requirements through available tooling, ongoing engagement, and effective tracking of control execution.
- Assist in the execution and monitoring of key technology controls, including identity and access management, encryption requirements, configuration standards, and secure development practices.
- Escalate exceptions, control failures, missing evidence, or emerging risks with clarity, timeliness, and appropriate supporting detail.
- Translate technical and analytical insights into clear, actionable information for leaders and stakeholders across Technology, Risk, and Control functions.
- Build expertise across a broad range of technology controls and understand how those controls apply across different technology environments and implementations.
- Take ownership for the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of work, understanding how it supports enterprise risk management, control effectiveness, and operational resilience.
- Experience is using AI or automation to improve the monitoring of technology controls.
- Ability to balance AI-driven monitoring with human judgment in a first-line controls environment.
Validate AI-generated insights before using them in risk reporting or escalation.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, risk management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant experience in technology risk, technology controls, cybersecurity, infrastructure risk, application risk, or a related governance or control function.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, assess risk, and support practical remediation.
- Ability to use AI or automation to improve the monitoring of technology controls
- Ability to translate technical risk into business impact for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to foster collaboration and guide teams.
- Demonstrated ownership, attention to detail, and adaptability in a changing technology and risk environment.
