We’re seeking a strategic UX Researcher and UX Designer to join our People Experience team. This role is located in New York.
Int his role, You will use employee insights to guide strategies, products, and experiences that improve how people work at our company. Working with teams like People Product, People Analytics, and CAT leaders, you’ll help enhance the employee journey. This hands-on role involves researching human behavior and creating actionable solutions to make work better.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Lead mixed-methods research (qualitative and quantitative) to understand employee needs, pain points, motivations, and behaviors.
- Translate findings into clear narratives that inform design, policy, and people-product decisions—using storytelling, visualization, and synthesis frameworks.
- Shape listening strategies across moments that matter (onboarding, performance, career growth, manager experience, etc.) in collaboration with People Analytics and Journey leaders.
- Partner with People Product Managers, CAT Leaders, and PBPs to prioritize research questions, define problem spaces, and influence roadmaps.
- Develop and maintain research playbooks and standards to build research capability across the People function.
- Work closely with analytics partners to combine qualitative insights with quantitative data to drive clear recommendations.
- Contribute to a culture of experimentation, prototyping, and iterative learning within the People Experience team.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- 6 years of experience in UX research, design research, employee experience, or related fields.
- Proven ability to lead end-to-end research projects—from framing questions to delivering actionable insights.
- Proficiency in qualitative methods (e.g., in-depth interviews, journey mapping, diary studies, co-creation workshops) and familiarity with quantitative tools (e.g., survey design, data triangulation).
- Strong storytelling, facilitation, and influence skills—able to make complex findings clear and compelling for senior stakeholders.
- Experience working in matrixed or enterprise environments; comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity.
- Passion for human-centered design, employee experience, and shaping the future of work.
- Bonus: familiarity with People systems, people analytics platforms, or EX design tools.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $113,000 and $221,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $102,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
