We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Insider Threat to join our Risk & Compliance team. This role is located in Washington, DC. 

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways: 

• Develop and lead an enterprise-wide insider threat program, including strategy, policies, and technical controls.
• Oversee advanced monitoring and analytics to detect anomalous behavior and potential insider threats.
• Direct investigations of suspected insider incidents, coordinating with HR, legal, and compliance.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify critical assets and areas vulnerable to insider exploitation.
• Lead training and awareness initiatives to educate employees and contractors on insider threat risks and reporting mechanisms.
• Collaborate with business lines to ensure insider threat controls are tailored to specific operational needs.
• Provide oversight and challenge remediation efforts following insider-related incidents.
• Communicate findings and recommendations for executive leadership, supporting informed risk decision-making.
• Stay current on regulatory requirements and best practices related to insider threat management.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

• At least 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, risk management, or intelligence analysis, with a focus on insider threat detection and response.
• Proven expertise in designing and operating insider threat programs within large, complex organizations.
• Strong background in behavioral analytics, digital forensics, and incident investigation.
• Experience collaborating with HR, legal, and compliance teams on sensitive investigations.
• Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks (e.g., NYDFS, DORA, NIS2, SEC rules) and industry best practices for insider risk management.
• Ability to clearly articulate technical risks and solutions to non-technical senior leadership.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex risks into actionable insights for business and risk leaders.
• Financial services experience is welcome, but not critical.
• Relentless curiosity and a passion for solving complex technical and human-centric problems.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $127,000 and $300,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. 
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Salary : $127,000 - $300,000
