Quality Engineer (Heat Treat / IATF)

Position Summary
Bluewater Thermal Solutions is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer with experience in Brazing / heat treating processes and strong knowledge of IATF 16949 standards. This role will support quality initiatives across the plant by ensuring compliance, improving processes, and partnering with operations to maintain high-quality production standards.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working directly on the production floor to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain compliance with IATF 16949 quality management standards
Monitor and improve quality processes within heat treating operations
Lead and support root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal and customer quality issues
Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and internal defects
Collaborate with production, maintenance, and leadership to implement process improvements
Conduct audits (internal, customer, and process) and support external audits
Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and record-keeping of quality-related activities
Analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements to reduce scrap, rework, and defects
Participate in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and control plan development and maintenance
Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement on the shop floor
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (preferred)
Experience In Heat Treating Or Thermal Processing Strongly Preferred
Working knowledge of IATF 16949 and automotive quality requirements
Experience With Quality Tools Such As
Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
FMEA
Control Plans
SPC
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, production-focused environment
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both hourly employees and leadership
