Job Description: Entry-Level PC Imaging Technician
Position Overview
The Entry-Level PC Imaging Technician supports the IT team by preparing, imaging, and deploying computer systems for end users. This role is ideal for candidates beginning their IT career who have a strong interest in hardware, Windows environments, and hands-on technical work. Training will be provided, but a basic understanding of computer components and troubleshooting is expected.
Key Responsibilities
PC Imaging & Preparation
- Assist with imaging desktops and laptops using standardized tools
- Configure basic system settings and ensure devices meet company standards.
- Perform initial setup, updates, and verification of system readiness.
Hardware Setup
- Unbox, label, and prepare new hardware for deployment.
- Install and test components such as memory, drives, accessories, and peripherals.
- Report hardware issues and assist with basic troubleshooting.
Software Installation
- Install required applications, drivers, and security tools as instructed by senior technicians.
- Ensure systems receive updates and patches prior to deployment.
Deployment Support
- Deliver devices to users or staging areas and assist with setup at workstations.
- Help migrate user data during device refresh or replacement cycles.
Documentation & Inventory
- Maintain accurate records of imaged systems, asset tags, and deployment logs.
- Update inventory tools with device status and location information.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with IT Support and Desktop Support teams to ensure smooth deployment processes.
- Provide additional assistance during large rollout or refresh projects.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years Basic understanding of Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11).
- Familiarity with computer hardware (memory, SSDs, peripherals, BIOS basics).
- Interest in learning imaging tools such as MDT, SCCM/MECM, Intune Autopilot, Clonezilla, etc.
- Ability to follow instructions and standardized procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
Preferred (Not Required) Skills
- Some hands-on experience building, repairing, or troubleshooting PCs (personal or professional).
- Exposure to Windows deployment tools or Active Directory concepts.
- Experience working in a help desk, desktop support, or tech internship environment is a plus.
