PCIC Specialist – 1st Shift

Position Summary

BlueScope Buildings North America is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive PCIC Specialist to support our manufacturing operations. The PCIC Specialist is responsible for coordinating purchasing, production control, and inventory control activities to ensure materials and finished goods are available when needed and customer orders are shipped on time and complete.

This position works closely with suppliers, production, warehouse operations, purchasing, and other internal teams to maintain accurate inventory levels, monitor material requirements, resolve supply issues, and support efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procure raw materials and finished goods required to support manufacturing and customer demand.
  • Monitor material requirements and ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer shipments.
  • Maintain accurate purchase orders, delivery dates, part settings, and related information within the company's ERP system.
  • Monitor expected receipts and follow up with suppliers regarding late, incomplete, or otherwise at-risk deliveries.
  • Identify potential material shortages and proactively communicate issues that may affect production or customer deliveries.
  • Perform cycle counts of raw materials and finished goods and investigate inventory discrepancies.
  • Research differences between physical inventory and system quantities and communicate findings to management.
  • Monitor inventory levels and help ensure inventory is aligned with current business and production requirements.
  • Support inventory optimization and initiatives designed to maintain appropriate inventory turns while minimizing shortages and excess inventory.
  • Review supplier pricing and performance and communicate supplier-related issues to the appropriate purchasing organization.
  • Assist with invoice and purchase-order discrepancies and work with internal and external partners to resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records and ensure system information is current and reliable.
  • Collaborate with production, warehouse, shipping, purchasing, and management teams to resolve material and inventory issues.
  • Provide timely communication regarding changes in material availability, supplier performance, and inventory conditions.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to purchasing, inventory accuracy, material flow, and production support.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous purchasing/procurement experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze inventory and purchasing information and identify discrepancies or potential issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively to changing production requirements.
  • Proficiency with computers and business/ERP systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of purchasing experience.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with inventory control, cycle counting, or material planning.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and material flow.
  • Experience working with suppliers and resolving delivery or purchasing issues.
  • Understanding of inventory management concepts, including inventory accuracy, material availability, and inventory turns.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, 1st-shift position supporting a manufacturing facility. The role requires regular interaction with production, warehouse, purchasing, and other plant personnel and may require time spent in both office and manufacturing/warehouse environments.
