Position Summary

The Pool Monitor is responsible for overseeing the use of the pool and surrounding deck area, enforcing facility rules, and providing a welcoming, professional point of contact for residents and guests. Pool Monitors are not lifeguards and do not perform water rescues; their role is focused on rule enforcement, guest check-in, cleanliness, and helping ensure a safe and orderly environment at non-guarded community pools.

Required Certifications

  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation to travel between facilities.
  • Comfortable working independently and engaging with residents, guests, and family members.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Oversight

  • Open and close the pool facility according to the schedule and posted hours.
  • Verify that all guests and residents are authorized to use the facility (key cards, IDs, sign-in sheets, etc.).
  • Monitor the pool area to ensure safe, appropriate use and to identify any potential issues.
  • Restrict access to the pool during closures, weather events, or unsafe conditions.

Rule Enforcement & Guest Services

  • Enforce all posted pool rules and HOA/property guidelines in a friendly but firm manner.
  • Respond to questions, concerns, or rule disputes calmly and professionally.
  • Provide a positive, welcoming presence for residents and guests throughout the shift.
  • Document and report any rule violations, conflicts, or incidents to the Aquatics Supervisor.

Cleanliness & Upkeep

  • Keep the pool deck, restrooms, and surrounding areas clean, tidy, and free of hazards.
  • Empty trash, replace liners, and restock supplies as needed.
  • Notify the Aquatics Supervisor of any maintenance issues, broken equipment, or facility damage.

Communication

  • Maintain clear and timely communication with the Aquatics Supervisor regarding daily activity, incidents, or concerns.
  • Complete required logs, sign-in sheets, and incident reports accurately.
  • Communicate facility closures, weather decisions, and schedule changes to guests as directed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Friendly, approachable, and able to maintain a professional demeanor with all residents and guests.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Comfortable enforcing rules respectfully, even when the situation is challenging.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, often outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Basic comfort with using a phone, email, or simple software for sign-ins, scheduling, and reporting.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
