Experienced Surgery Technician

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brandon is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team.

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 / hour
This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some pre and post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on call schedule is required once training has been completed.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable and unstable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.

• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.

• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.

• Induce, monitor, and recover stable and unstable patients from anesthesia.

• Recognize, troubleshoot and treat adverse anesthetic events with clinician support and approval.

• Able to set up intravenous fluids.

• Blood type and cross match patients in need of blood transfusion, and administer blood products using Medical quality gold standard of care.

• Place Nasogasric tubes and sampling catheters.

• Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.

• Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.

• Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
