Radiation Therapy Technician

If you are already a licensed veterinary technician, you must be willing to assist or oversee induction and maintenance and recovery of anesthetized patients, assist with patient restraint, be able to calculate drug doses including CRIs and maintain a working knowledge of pharmacokinetics of all drugs routinely used, and occasionally help in other areas of the hospital when/if needed. You will also need to have excellent communication skills with owners and with other members of our hospital as well as referral hospitals.

As a Radiation Therapist you will be able to demonstrate the following:           

    

• Be comfortable running a Varian iX-S and CyberKnife SRS(can train)
• Experience with RapidArc, SRS, and OBI (CBCT and kV/kV, and MV)
• Must be comfortable with performing DailyQA and IMRT/VMAT plan QA and possess excellent communication skills with physicists/service engineers
• Must have working knowledge or ability to learn ARIA 16 record and verify system
• Ability to perform manual RT patient set-ups (UTM mode) under the supervision of radiation oncologists
• Must be able to create electron cutouts as needed
• Possess excellent troubleshooting and organizational skills
• Ability to administer appropriate radiation prescription to patients under the supervision of radiation oncologists
• Be willing/able to assist Veterinary Technicians in procedures outside of radiation administration, such as CT simulations
