Certified Veterinary Technician - Urgent Care - Weekends

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Port Washington, WI is hiring an experienced Part time or relief Certified Veterinary Technician join our team in our Emergency and Urgent Care department on the weekends. Hours are from 10a-8pm on Saturdays and 12a-12pm on Sundays.

Pay Range CVTI-II: $22.00 - $35.00/hour

• This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

As a Certified Veterinary Technician, some of your responsibilities will include assisting with physical exams on patients, preparing supplies for treatments and procedures, performing in-house lab work (Idexx and Antech), and monitoring patients during sedated or anesthetic procedures. Good communication skills and compassion is a must. The right candidate will be comfortable assisting with treatments, educating clients, fielding phone calls, and pitching in when the team needs help.

As a Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Triage cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Assist the doctor with creating patient treatment plans and thoroughly explaining to owners.
• Monitor hospitalized patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Assist with phlebotomy and intravenous catheters.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and assist with CPR.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
