Job Description
The client is seeking a skilled Oracle DBA and DevOps Engineer for a full-time opportunity based in Schaumburg, IL. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in database engineering, DevOps practices, and cloud infrastructure (AWS). This role involves both administration and engineering responsibilities, requiring a proactive professional capable of supporting mission-critical systems and driving database automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Engineer, administer, and manage multiple relational database technologies in both on-premise and cloud environments.
Install, configure, and maintain Oracle and PostgreSQL databases ensuring performance, security, and availability.
Implement and support DevOps pipelines for database deployment and automation in AWS Cloud infrastructure.
Perform upgrades, patches, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) operations for Oracle DBs.
Provide database architecture leadership and collaborate with system administrators, developers, and project teams.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex database and infrastructure-related issues in production and non-production environments.
Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and database optimization efforts.
Ensure database systems comply with enterprise security and compliance standards.
Maintain proper documentation of systems, configurations, and change management.
Required Skills & Experience
5–8 years of experience in database engineering, administration, and management across Oracle and PostgreSQL technologies.
Strong experience with on-premise and AWS Cloud infrastructure.
Hands-on experience with Oracle installation, configuration, upgrades, and DR setup.
Working knowledge of DevOps tools and CI/CD pipeline implementation for database automation.
Expertise in database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security management.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field (Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered).
