Job Overview
Blue Water Industries, a growing aggregate producer, is currently hiring for a Plant Manager at the Daurity Springs Quarry in Goldston, NC. We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
Objective:
The Plant Manager has direct responsibility for the aggregate plant site including safety, quality, environment, operations, inventory management, managing people and community relations. Must be able to run a safe and efficient operation.
Responsibilities:
1. Safety: Ensures that the site meets or exceeds all local, state and federal guidelines specific to safety. Pursues a culture of safety with an objective of “zero” injuries or incidents. Actively engages with the workforce to ensure a safe workplace and identify opportunities for improvement.
2. Environment: Ensures regulations are met or exceeded by following Blue Water best practices.
3. Operations Management: Provides direct oversight in the extraction, processing, stockpiling, and shipping of aggregates at the site. Follows established processes and utilizes tools to ensure plant activities are optimized and costs are in line.
4. Inventory Management: Closely manages inventory needs at site through frequent coordination with Sales & QC
5. Performance Management: Promotes a culture of performance and accountability. Effectively measures efficiency and continuously improves the operations.
6. Quality: Understands the importance of quality and ensures processes are in place to provide a consistent quality product to our customers. Utilizes best practices in extraction, processing, stockpiling, stock-pile reclamation and re-handling to ensure product remains within target specifications as it is received by our customers. Can effectively measure quality, identify variances and establish corrective action.
7. Planning: Develops operational and capital plans for the plant to continuously improve productivity and maintain low costs. Prepares budgets and forecasts. Works closely with sales to optimize production, sales and inventory levels. Assists in the development of Mine Plans and ensures they are closely followed/executed.
8. Capital: Works with Area Operations Manager to identify necessary sustaining and development capital. Assists in preparing CERs (Capital Expenditure Requests) and assists in installation/construction of projects as required.
9. Plant Housekeeping: Maintains a high standard for plant image and housekeeping. Plant image includes the appearance & cleanliness of the entire site such as parts storage, maintenance area, vehicles and equipment condition, site entrance, property and all buildings.
10. Supervises and manages the workforce. Responsible for hiring, onboarding/training and performance management. Must be able to develop and maintain effective employee relations.
11. Community Relations: Works proactively with the local community to ensure that Blue Water is a valued member of the community.
12. Supporting our Customers: Ensure we are meeting customer expectations around quality, consistency and quantity of material.
Physical demands:
- Must be able to push, pull or lift 60 lbs. or more.
- Must be able to bend down, crouch and squat
- Must be able to stand or walk 75% of the time.
- Must be able to be able to walk the plant on a daily basis
- Must be able to climb a 10 foot vertical ladder.
Qualification Profile:
Education & Work Experience:
§ A minimum of 5 years of Plant Management and leadership experience at a quarry.
§ A minimum of 5 years operations experience & aggregates related experience.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, background check and drug screen
Knowledge & Skills:
§ Strong leadership and people skills.
§ Problem solving and analytical skills.
§ Cost management skills and budget experience required.
§ Disciplined and process oriented.
§ Knowledge of mining, crushing, and screening principles.
§ Knowledge of welding, repairs and maintenance of mobile and processing equipment.
§ Must be familiar with state and federal mining regulations as well as material specifications.
