Position Summary
A Night Auditor is a dual-role hotel professional responsible for overseeing overnight front desk operations while completing the property’s end-of-day financial processes. This position combines guest service and accounting responsibilities to support smooth, accurate, and secure hotel operations throughout the night. Key duties include checking in late-arriving guests, answering phones, addressing guest needs, balancing daily accounts, reconciling financial transactions, and preparing audit reports for management. The Night Auditor ensures exceptional guest service, maintains a safe and calm environment during overnight hours, and delivers accurate financial records to support the next day’s operations.
Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Guest Relations

Greet, check-in, and check-out guests professionally and efficiently.

Assist late-arrival and early-departure guests with courtesy and accuracy.

Answer phones, handle guest inquiries, and provide information about hotel services and local area.

Address and resolve guest concerns promptly during overnight hours.

Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming lobby and front desk area in accordance with IHG standards.
Night Audit & Accounting

Complete end-of-day financial reconciliations for all revenue outlets.

Balance guest folios, room charges, cash transactions, and credit card postings.

Generate, review, and distribute daily management reports.

Investigate and correct discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Follow all cash-handling, security, and accounting protocols.
Safety, Security & Property Monitoring

Conduct routine property walks to ensure guest safety and operational readiness.

Monitor security cameras and report any unusual activity.

Respond to guest emergencies and follow proper safety procedures.

Ensure all exterior doors remain secure during the night.
Operational Support

Prepare front desk and lobby areas for morning shift arrival.

Communicate important information to housekeeping and maintenance teams for next-day operations.

Process wake-up calls and handle overnight reservation requests.

Complete required logs, documentation, and shift reports accurately.
Qualifications

Prior hotel front desk or night audit experience preferred, but not required.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Basic accounting or cash-handling experience preferred.

Computer proficiency; PMS experience (IHG Concerto) is a plus.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

High attention to detail, especially in financial tasks.

Ability to stand for long periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.

Must be available to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Work Schedule

Overnight shift: typically 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
