Site Safety Specialist-Pipeline & Heavy Civil Projects

Blue Sky Construction LLC is seeking an experienced Site Safety Supervisor to support our Boise-area operations. This position will work closely with our Heavy Civil and Pipeline divisions, providing field safety leadership and oversight across multiple active project sites.

The Site Safety Supervisor is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe working environment while ensuring compliance with company policies, client requirements, OSHA regulations, and other applicable standards. This individual will regularly visit project locations throughout the Boise area, monitor construction activities, identify hazards, and work directly with project managers, superintendents, supervisors, employees, and subcontractors to reinforce safe work practices.

Daily responsibilities include conducting site inspections, leading or supporting Job Safety Analysis meetings and toolbox talks, reviewing work plans, JHA's, documenting safety observations, investigating incidents and near-misses, and following corrective actions through completion. The Site Safety Supervisor will also assist project teams with pre-task planning, risk assessments, excavation and trenching safety, environmental controls, and emergency response preparation.

The successful candidate will be a visible, hands-on safety leader who can build productive relationships with field crews, communicate expectations clearly, and address safety concerns promptly and professionally.

• Provide field safety oversight for Heavy Civil and Pipeline projects throughout the Boise area.
• Travel between multiple active project sites based on operational and safety needs.
• Conduct routine and documented job-site safety inspections.
• Identify unsafe conditions, at-risk behaviors, environmental concerns, and potential regulatory violations.
• Work with project leadership to correct hazards promptly and verify that corrective actions are completed.
• Lead or support daily pre-task planning, Job Safety Analysis meetings, toolbox talks, and safety orientations.
• Monitor excavation, trenching, pipeline installation, equipment operation, lifting, traffic control, confined-space, and other high-risk construction activities.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies, project-specific safety plans, client requirements, and applicable OSHA regulations.
• Review JSAs, work plans, permits, and other safety documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Support supervisors and crews in adapting safety plans when work activities or field conditions change.
• Investigate incidents, injuries, property damage, and near-misses.
• Prepare clear investigation reports and recommend practical corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, training documentation, incident reports, and safety observations.
• Track safety trends and communicate findings to company and project leadership.
• Coordinate closely with project managers, superintendents, supervisors, subcontractors, inspectors, and client representatives.
• Participate in project planning, mobilization, safety meetings, audits, and closeout activities.
• Assist with emergency response planning and respond promptly to urgent job-site safety concerns.
• Promote a professional and accountable safety culture across all assigned projects.
• Coach employees and subcontractors on safe work practices while maintaining positive working relationships.
• Support the continued improvement of Blue Sky Construction’s safety programs and procedures.

• Previous safety experience in heavy civil, pipeline, underground utility, oil and gas, industrial, or related construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and applicable OSHA requirements.
• Working knowledge of excavation, trenching, grading, underground utilities, pipeline installation, heavy equipment, and site-development activities.
• Experience conducting job-site inspections, safety meetings, toolbox talks, employee orientations, and Job Safety Analyses.
• Experience investigating incidents and near-misses and preparing clear, accurate reports.
• Ability to identify hazards, assess risk, and recommend practical corrective actions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence safe behavior at every level of a project team.
• Ability to address unsafe work professionally, consistently, and confidently.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to manage safety responsibilities across multiple active project locations.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.
• Ability to conduct frequent field walks and respond promptly to safety concerns and emergencies.
• Ability to travel throughout the Boise area and to other project locations when required.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

• OSHA 30 certification.
• Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification or an equivalent safety credential.
• Competent Person training for excavation and trenching.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Experience with permit-to-work systems, environmental controls, and utility-locating requirements.
• Familiarity with pipeline construction safety and heavy civil operations.
• Experience working on projects throughout Idaho and the Rocky Mountain West.
