Senior MEP Project Manager

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior MEP Project Manager to take ownership of complex mechanical and plumbing design projects while helping guide the next generation of engineering talent. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership opportunity for a California-licensed PE who enjoys solving technical challenges, building trusted client relationships, and seeing projects through from early design to construction. The position offers meaningful influence over project quality, team development, and delivery within a collaborative engineering environment.

Focus:
- Lead mechanical and plumbing engineering projects from initial design through construction support, maintaining accountability for technical quality, schedules, and deliverables.
- Direct HVAC, plumbing, and piping design activities, including engineering calculations, equipment selection, system sizing, and supporting technical documentation.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations to promote coordinated, constructible, and code-compliant project solutions.
- Partner across architectural, structural, electrical, and other design disciplines to address coordination challenges throughout project development.
- Coach engineers and designers, assign technical work, and provide detailed feedback that strengthens both project execution and team capabilities.
- Monitor project hours, budgets, schedules, and milestones, identifying potential delivery concerns and communicating them early.
- Act as a technical resource for clients, contractors, permitting authorities, and other project stakeholders throughout design and construction.
- Provide construction-phase engineering support through submittal reviews, RFIs, field observations, and responses to agency or plan-review comments.
Skill Set:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 6 years of progressive mechanical and plumbing design experience, including at least 2 years leading projects or small technical teams.
- Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Strong command of HVAC and plumbing system design and relevant IBC, IMC, IPC, CMC, CPC, Title 24, and ASHRAE requirements.
- Experience performing load calculations and energy analysis with Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, or comparable engineering software.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM-based design and coordination workflows.
- Strong engineering judgment with the ability to review technical documents for quality, coordination, constructability, and regulatory compliance.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for working effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, building officials, and internal project teams.
