Construction Risk Manager
Location: On-site in Fayetteville, AR
A well-established commercial construction organization is seeking a Construction Risk Manager to strengthen enterprise-wide risk management efforts and help protect complex projects from financial and operational exposure. This is an opportunity to build meaningful partnerships with executive leadership while influencing subcontractor risk decisions, insurance strategy, and financial due diligence across a diverse portfolio of commercial construction projects.

What You'll Do
- Lead construction risk management initiatives by identifying, evaluating, and mitigating financial, operational, contractual, and subcontractor-related risks across commercial construction projects.
- Administer the company's Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) program, including enrollment, compliance, program performance, and coordination with brokers, carriers, and underwriting partners.
- Evaluate subcontractor qualifications through detailed financial analysis, including financial statements, Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, bonding capacity, liquidity, creditworthiness, and overall financial strength.
- Partner with preconstruction, operations, finance, legal, and executive leadership to support project pursuits, subcontractor selection, and strategic risk management decisions.
- Develop risk assessments and actionable recommendations that improve project outcomes while reducing financial exposure.
- Support insurance administration, contract review, and risk transfer strategies related to subcontract agreements, insurance requirements, and indemnification provisions.
- Monitor subcontractor financial health throughout project execution, identifying emerging risks and recommending proactive mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate subcontractor default claims and documentation while supporting recovery efforts and communication with external insurance partners.
- Analyze risk trends, prepare executive-level reporting, and help drive continuous improvement of enterprise risk management processes.
- Contribute to organizational best practices by supporting audits, insurance renewals, training initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration that strengthens construction risk management across the business.
Required Qualifications
- Experience administering Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) programs.
- Strong financial analysis skills, including evaluation of financial statements, Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, bonding capacity, and subcontractor financial strength.
- Construction risk management experience involving insurance, surety, underwriting, subcontractor prequalification, or related disciplines.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, insurance requirements, and subcontractor risk evaluation.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Finance, Risk Management, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting commercial general contractor operations.
- Professional certifications such as ARM, CRM, CRIS, CCIFP, or similar credentials.
- Background working with enterprise risk management, construction accounting, or project controls.
