Your Role

The Appeals and Grievances team receives, documents, investigates, refers, and coordinates grievances, appeals and complaints. The Clerical Support, Entry position will report to the Operations, Supervisor. In this role, the office clerk will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative tasks for the team such as filing documents and managing correspondence to ensure the smooth operation of the office. They also support staff by maintaining records, assisting with data entry, and other routine duties as needed.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Batch, track, compile and distribute mail, proofread, and assemble documents in addition to general office support such as faxing, filing, and copying.
  • Print, sort and mail letters
  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail.
  • Photocopy, scan, and fax.
  • Prepare and send outgoing mailings and packages.
  • Identify and report issues timely.

  • Actively participate in team meetings and team activities.

  • Adhere to a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department.
  • Support the team from Blue Shield’s El Dorado Hills office


Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED

  • 0-2 years of prior relevant experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Systems such as Power Point, Excel, and Word preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and meet required deadlines

Two Ways of Working:

  • Hybrid (Default): Work from a business unit-approved office at least two (2) times per month (for roles below Director-level) or once per week (for Director-level roles and above). Exceptions:

o Member-facing and approved out-of-state roles remain remote.

o Employees living more than 50 miles from their assigned offices are expected to work with their managers on a plan for periodic office visits.

o For employees with medical conditions that may impact their ability to work in-office, we are committed to engaging in an interactive process and providing reasonable accommodations to ensure their work environment is conducive to their success and well-being.

  • On-Site: Work from a business unit-approved office an average of four (4) or more days a week.

Physical Requirements:

Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
