Blue Rose Consulting Group, Inc. (Blue Rose) is seeking an experienced Postgres Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a federal client in designing, securing, and optimizing mission-critical database environments.
In this role, you will ensure the efficiency, reliability, and integrity of Postgres systems that underpin key federal operations, contributing to secure and effective data-driven decision-making.

What You’ll Do

As a Postgres SME, you will:

• Design, deploy, and maintain high-performance Postgres database environments

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance issues

• Implement database security, hardening, and monitoring best practices

• Develop and optimize SQL and PL/pgSQL queries, functions, and stored procedures

• Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to engineer scalable database solutions

• Manage backup, recovery, and continuity procedures to safeguard critical data

• Ensure compliance with federal security standards and evolving industry practices

• Stay current on advancements in Postgres and related database technologies

Schedule & Shift Details

• Full-time (40 hours/week)

• On-site support required in Kingstowne & Ft. Belvoir

• Standard business hours; occasional after-hours support may be required

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required

• Secret clearance required or higher

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline

• Possession of Security , CISSP, or equivalent security certification

• Proven experience as a Postgres Database Administrator or SME

• Advanced (7–10 years) experience with:

  • Postgres configuration, tuning, performance optimization, and monitoring

  • SQL and PL/pgSQL programming

  • Backup, recovery, and secure database operations

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

• PostgreSQL certifications (e.g., PostgreSQL Certified Professional) a plus
