About the role

Child and Youth Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC)

Scott AFB | Belleville, IL (Onsite)

Blue Rose Consulting Group is seeking a qualified Child and Youth Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC) to provide non-medical counseling and support services to military-connected children, youth, and their families at Belleville, Illinois. This is a full-time, onsite position supporting the Department of Defense Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) Program and is open to U.S. Citizens only.

What you'll do

  • Provide short-term, solution-focused, non-medical counseling to military-connected children and youth in youth center and child development program settings.
  • Consult with parents, guardians, teachers, youth program staff, and installation leadership regarding child and youth behavioral concerns.
  • Deliver age-appropriate resilience, life skills, and health and wellness presentations for children, youth, parents, and staff.
  • Support Child Development Centers (CDCs), Youth Programs, summer camps, and other installation youth activities as assigned.
  • Collaborate with installation leadership, military Points of Contact (POCs), educators, and community resources to support program objectives.
  • Maintain confidential documentation and comply with all Department of Defense and contract requirements.
  • Respond professionally to the unique needs of military-connected children and families while maintaining appropriate boundaries and ethical standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
  • Active, unrestricted, independent clinical license in any U.S. state or territory (e.g., LCSW, LICSW, LPC, LCPC, LMHC, LMFT, or Psychologist).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of post-independent licensure clinical experience.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a clinical, school, or community setting.
  • Understanding of military culture and experience working with service members, military families, veterans, or military-connected populations.
  • Strong assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with military leadership, educators, and installation personnel.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must successfully pass all federal background investigations, suitability requirements, and installation access requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Child and Youth Military Family Life Counseling (CYB-MFLC) experience.
  • Prior military service or experience working within the Department of Defense.
  • Experience providing brief, solution-focused counseling to children and adolescents.
  • Experience working in school, youth center, or child development settings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
