Certification:
- Arizona Teaching Certificate in subject matter
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card-IVP
- NSCA, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
- CPR/AED
Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher in subject matter from an accredited college or university
Personal Qualities:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a wide variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Determined and dedicated. Effective communicator and collaborator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute programs in small and large group settings
- Motivate and inspire students at varying levels of fitness
- Explore current research and trends in the fitness industry
- Educate students through presentations, camps and health fairs
- Establishment a positive learning environment that promotes a high level of achievement for all students while considering the background and development level of the individual students
- Incorporate technology for attendance, programing and progress data
- Teach knowledge and skills to secondary students utilizing the course of study prescribed by the District approved curriculum.
- Work cooperatively in planning a balanced program, adapting daily schedules
- Analyze, demonstrate and explain basic skills, knowledge and strategies and fundamentals of body movement.
- Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt curriculum to the needs of the student (s) to the extent feasible.
- Exhibit proper conduct in the handling of student emergencies.
- Knowledge and training in first aid procedures
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior required to provide an orderly and productive environment.
- Instruct students in proper care and use of materials and equipment, organize storage areas, control use of materials to prevent loss or abuse.
- Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and understanding, prepare progress reports.
- Select and requisition instructional material, books etc., and maintain inventory records.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
- Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
- Cooperate in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities.
- Participate in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
