About the Role
Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority is hiring full-time Jail Officers to support the safe, secure, and orderly operation of its facilities. This position provides a stable public-service career with paid training, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for overtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the safety and security of incarcerated individuals, staff, and visitors.
- Monitor housing areas, facility activity, and daily operations.
- Follow established security procedures, post orders, and facility policies.
- Conduct required checks, documentation, and routine reports.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and incarcerated individuals.
- Participate in required training and maintain professional standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 20 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license.
- Ability to successfully complete a drug screening and extensive background investigation.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and perform the essential functions of the position.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting salary: $49,391 annually.
- Salary after one year: $51,643 annually.
