EXPERIENCE: Possess one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience may include: providing stewardship of assets/facilities ensuring, visitor use and enjoyment as well as the protection of natural and cultural resources; monitoring and evaluating maintenance programs affecting park operations to ensure compliance with, and application of, approved management direction; performing and maintaining asset inventories and condition assessments for the purpose of developing deferred maintenance costs for annual and multi-year plans; planning, scheduling and directing work to operate facilities and assets at their most effective level; planning and coordinating budget and financial plans and operations; coordinating project scope, goals and objectives; facilitating planning and design processes; developing spending plan and budget protocols; or managing construction process ensuring all project documentation is completed and archived. You must include hours per week worked.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). The Pisgah District Facility Manager supervises maintenance operations for the Blue Ridge Parkway, overseeing staff and managing all aspects of planning, budgeting, and coordinating activities. Key duties include developing plans and procedures, assessing facility conditions, directing construction projects, preparing reports, and responding to emergencies. The manager is responsible for operational maintenance of utilities, buildings, historic structures, roads, bridges, grounds, and custodial services. Incumbent is required to be available to respond to emergencies during off duty hours.

The area is approximately 50 miles northeast of Asheville, NC, and 40 miles southwest of Boone, NC. All goods and services are available the area and the surrounding communities.
Asheville, North Carolina - The duty station is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at the Oteen Maintenance Area (mile post 382 on the Blue Ridge Parkway), which is located in Asheville, North Carolina. All goods and services are available in Asheville and the surrounding communities.
Balsam, North Carolina - The duty station is located at the Balsam Gap Maintenance Area, which is near the city limits of Waynesboro, NC. All goods and services are available in Asheville and the surrounding communities.
