Work Hours: 6:30 to 3:00 PM

As a mechanical design engineer, you will participate in the designing, prototyping, and finalization of lifting device designs. You will be expected to operate in office and warehouse production floor environments. A sufficient design engineer candidate is required to have proficient computer experience in ProE/CAD, with the ability to read and interpret simple to complex industrial blueprints. You will utilize creative design skills as a part of a below-the-hook lifting device manufacturing team on multiple projects for an expanding range of clients. Candidates organizational skills must be sufficient for multiple salespersons and customers while also maintaining a professional and enjoyable attitude. Personable skills should enhance the flow of a job from salesperson to the end customer.

Candidate should be skilled and knowledgeable on how to create 3-dimensional drawings as a requirement. We will provide the training to help understand the steel fabrication business with the intent to provide CAD drawings of customer-made below the hook lifting devices. You will learn the ability to keep track of materials used in a design and provide a quote on the device to the end customer. Other duties will include assisting with purchasing of standards parts and mechanisms to make the created designs as well as working well with customers and others on the completed designs. Experience related to dynamic mechanism design is also preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and certification of below-the-hook lifting devices in accordance with ASME BTH-1 standards.
  • Investigate, gather, and analyze data to implement innovative solutions which generate significant improvement in product quality, productivity, consistent delivery, and/or cost efficiency.
  • Help troubleshooting shop floor issues
  • Material tracking and quotation of design
  • Generation of DXF files and files used for multi-axis machining
  • Reverse Engineering of (un)certified lifting devices
  • Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficient in Hand Calculations based on stress analysis and structural design
  • PTC Creo experience required
  • Autocad experience (preferred)
  • Dynamic mechanism design
  • Experience in rigging hardware and steel fabrication
  • Experience in designing with ferrous materials and plastics
  • Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
