This position is classified as 3/4-time at 30 hours per week and is eligible for benefits. Compensation and benefits are prorated based on a standard 40-hour full-time schedule.
- 30 hours per week, 12-month faculty position responsible for teaching in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings within the Surgical Technology program.
- Supports student clinical placement, competency progression, affiliate partnerships, accreditation activities, student advising, and program quality improvement in alignment with college, SACSCOC, CAAHEP, and ARC/STSA standards.

Examples of Duties
What You'll be Doing
- Teach assigned didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses within the Surgical Technology curriculum
- Ensure orientation to the program’s requirements of the personnel who supervise or instruct students at clinical sites.
- Coordinate and support student clinical placements, orientation, progression, and competency evaluation in accordance with ARC/STSA standards
- Maintain communication with clinical affiliates to support student learning and supervision
- Assist with curriculum review, accreditation reporting, and continuous program improvement
- Support student advising, recruitment, retention, and career readiness activities
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTSA
- Minimum three years of operating room scrub experience in surgical technology within the past five years, instructional experience, or a combination of both
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical instruction, student evaluation, and competency assessment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Surgical Technology, Health Sciences, Education, or related field
- Previous didactic teaching, laboratory instruction, or clinical education experience
- Experience with clinical site coordination, accreditation standards, and program assessment
Skills and the Know-How
- Knowledge of surgical technology curriculum, clinical competencies, and current operating room practices
- Ability to teach effectively in classroom, lab, and clinical settings
- Skill in student evaluation, competency documentation, and academic support
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to provide direction, support, and guidance to clinical instructors and affiliate preceptors

The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
