What are the responsibilities and job description for the Campus Service Worker - Full-time position at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College?
Provides support services for normal household operations and for various special events (such as receptions, graduation, college events) at either Blue Ridge CTC Headquarters or Technology Center, as assigned by supervisor. This position will focus on cleaning services for all external vendors and contracted trainings. This work often requires independent actions to complete daily housekeeping assignments while following established procedures, cleaning techniques, and safety requirements. Some judgment is required to interpret instructions, respond to emergencies, and satisfy special requests. This work may require weekend shifts and schedules are subject to frequent changes.
70% General Housekeeping Duties
20% Perform weekly, monthly, quarterly cleaning assignments on established schedule
5% Room setup (classrooms, events)
5% Light landscaping (weeding, planting, etc.)

- Maintains cleanliness of offices, classrooms, hallways, training spaces, outdoor café, and bathrooms. Occasionally uses floor cleaning machine and buffer.
- Campus service workers must report to work 30 minutes prior to any delayed college opening.
- This position is an Emergency Employee position and is required to report to work as needed during inclement weather or building closures.
- Requires dependable transportation and must be able to arrive at the assigned place of work during inclement weather.

Education
- Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Experience with general maintenance and/or housekeeping preferred.
- Positive communication and interpersonal skills; ability to forge positive work partnerships.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of rapid growth and change.
- Must be detail and deadline oriented.
- Ability to work independently yet collaborate in a team environment.
- Ability to work as a team player, appropriately exhibiting a positive attitude and the ability to not only accept, but flourish in an environment characterized by multiple complex factors, competing priorities, ambiguous situations, and resource challenges.
