What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Quality position at Blue Ridge Care?

Director of Quality – PACE

About Blue Ridge Care

At Blue Ridge Care, we deliver extraordinary care to improve life’s journey. As a mission-driven, not-for-profit healthcare system, we provide integrated services in hospice, serious illness care, the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), community thrift shops, and grief support—meeting patients and families with the compassion, expertise, and respect they deserve. Our goal is simple: to reimagine how communities experience aging, serious illness, and end-of-life care through personalized, high-quality services.

About The Role

We’re looking for a thoughtful, mission-driven Director of Quality to support Blue Ridge Independence at Home (PACE). This role is essential in ensuring our program remains compliant, safe, participant-centered, and continuously improving.

You will lead the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, guide audits and reporting, oversee grievances and appeals, and partner with leaders and interdisciplinary teams to strengthen quality outcomes across BRIH.

Your work will directly influence how our participants experience care—and how our teams continue to grow, learn, and excel.

  • The role is remote, with occasional visits to the site as needed.

How You’ll Make a Difference

  • Lead the annual Quality Improvement Plan and drive continuous quality and compliance efforts.
  • Analyze data trends to guide operational decisions and address concerns such as risk, safety, and documentation accuracy.
  • Oversee grievances and appeals to ensure timely, fair resolution and integration into improvement plans.
  • Conduct routine and targeted audits of participant records and staff documentation.
  • Submit required CMS and state reports related to participant care and organizational performance.
  • Support staff through education, coaching, and opportunities for input in quality initiatives.
  • Collaborate with contracted providers, pharmacies, vendors, and interdisciplinary teams to maintain service excellence.
  • Coordinate annual satisfaction surveys and present findings to the Quality Committee.
  • Participate in advisory committees and help facilitate communication with participants and caregivers.
  • Ensure a respectful, nondiscriminatory environment that upholds all participant rights.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, health administration, quality management, or a related field.
  • At least two years of PACE experience with a strong focus on quality, data, or regulatory compliance.
  • Experience working with CMS/state regulations and leading QAPI initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative, positive relationships across teams and disciplines.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and required immunizations if participant-facing.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

At Blue Ridge Care, caring for our community begins with caring for you.

We offer a supportive work environment where your expertise and leadership are appreciated—because quality care starts with a quality team.

What we offer:

  • Competitive pay
  • PTO and Paid Volunteer Time
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement plan with company contribution
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional development support
  • Peer support, mentoring, and leadership development
  • 30% thrift shop discount
  • Growth opportunities through the Blue Ridge Care 2030 Strategic Plan

Here, you’re not just shaping processes—you’re shaping the future of care delivery for our community.
