What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production And Inventory Control Manager position at Blue Ribbon Meats, Inc?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain accurate systems for recording all inventory transactions
- Monitor and reconcile inventory levels regularly across all storage locations
- Calculate and analyze cost of goods sold and inventory valuation
- Calculate and report on inventory turnover ratios and trends
- Ensure all inventory-related financial data is accurately recorded in the accounting system
- Conduct cycle counts and support physical inventory processes
- Prepare inventory and COGS reports for management and assist with financial close activities
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and coordinate with operations to resolve issues
- Collaborate with purchasing, receiving, production, and sales teams to ensure accurate inventory flow and costing
- Assist with pricing models and margin analysis for new and existing products
- Support external audits and internal control compliance related to inventory and cost accounting
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field – preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an inventory or cost accounting role
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in foodservice distribution, manufacturing, or perishable goods inventory
Skills & Competencies:
- Comfortable learning and navigating new computer systems and ERP platforms
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Workspace (G-Suite)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with a professional and confidential approach
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and present findings in a clear, actionable manner
- Familiarity with inventory accounting methods (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average) a plus
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with regular interaction with production, warehouse, and operations personnel
- May require periodic walkthroughs of refrigerated/frozen inventory areas
