Position Summary
The BOM Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and strategically aligned data within the ERP system to support production scheduling, materials planning, and overall supply chain efficiency.
This role reports directly to the Materials Manager and is responsible for entering and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) for boat products, creating and maintaining new part records, and ensuring all sales order inputs are effectively translated into SAP to drive production and procurement workflows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in SAP for all boat models and associated sub assemblies.
- Enter, validate, and manage new part master data, ensuring accuracy in descriptions, units of measure, sourcing, and classifications.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Sales departments to ensure BOMs and part data reflect current specifications and operational needs.
- Review sales orders for accuracy and completeness, ensuring all order details are correctly programmed into SAP to support production scheduling and material planning.
- Support demand planning and production teams by ensuring timely availability of accurate product structures and master data.
- Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, or errors within the ERP system and proactively correct or escalate as needed.
- Maintain high data integrity standards by following established data governance practices and internal controls.
- Assist in improving SAP workflows related to material master data, BOM structure, and order processing.
- Provide input on continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data accuracy, reduce manual entry, and streamline ERP processes.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with SAP (or comparable ERP system) in material master data, BOM management, or production planning modules.
- Strong attention to detail with an ability to identify and correct data inconsistencies.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, or manufacturing instructions (preferred, especially in a manufacturing or marine environment).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Proficiency in Excel and data management best practices.
Additional Desired Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or materials management is a plus.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to walk, stand, and navigate large indoor and outdoor facilities for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs on a regular basis.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated areas or when performing specific tasks, in accordance with safety protocols and company policy.
- May be required to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, or crouch during inspections, maintenance walk-throughs, or emergency response situations.
- Regular exposure to facility operations including noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment.
- Occasional off-hours or weekend work required for emergency facility responses or projects as needed
- Requires frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment for documentation, communication, and coordination tasks.
