SCHEDULE: Up to 25 hours/week; flexible, may include occasional evenings or weekends
This position is on-site with the option for hybrid work.

JOB SUMMARY: This position will focus on strategic leadership support for the Walla Walla Valley Early Learning Coalition (ELC) as part of BMACs team that moves individuals and families from crisis to thriving. The ELC Manager is responsible for guiding coalition strategy, stewarding key partnerships, and ensuring effective coordination of earlylearning initiatives focused on childcare access, professional development, and community engagement. The mission of the ELC is to mobilize the community to support parents as their childrens first teacher and improve access to high-quality early learning opportunities for all young children in the Walla Walla Valley.
The ELC Manager serves as BMACs primary representative for coalitionbased early learning work and plays a central role in ensuring that coalition efforts are coordinated, equitable, and responsive to community needs.
OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes, but is not limited to:
Coalition Leadership & Partnership Management
- Lead and manage ELC advisory team meetings, stakeholder convenings, and partner roundtables aligned with coalition priorities
- Host regular stakeholder forums, action team meetings, and partner roundtables
- Set agendas, prepare materials, document outcomes, and support followthrough on coalition commitments
- Serve as the primary liaison between BMAC, the ELC, and external partners including childcare providers, school districts, public agencies, funders, and regional coalitions
- Translate early learning data, trends, and community input into actionable insights and strategic recommendations
- Represent the ELC and BMAC at relevant community, regional, and state early learning events
Childcare Access Strategy & Resource Systems
- Ensure the accuracy and ongoing maintenance of regional directory and website for childcare resources, including directories of providers, openings, affordability options, and culturally responsive resources
- Build and maintain relationships with childcare providers to understand capacity, barriers, and emerging needs, particularly in rural and underserved communities
- Offer direct family support in childcare access navigation, including pathways to subsidies, vouchers, and preK enrollment
- Identify childcare access gaps and systemic barriers and elevate findings to inform coalition strategy and advocacy
- Support coordinated outreach and public awareness efforts related to early learning and childcare access
Professional Development & Education Strategy
- Plan and manage a professional development opportunities for childcare providers, early educators, volunteers, and families aligned with ELC goals
- Oversee coordination of trainings, workshops, and learning series, including scheduling, enrollment, and partner communication
- Collaborate with BMACs marketing and communications team to develop outreach materials and website updates related to learning opportunities
- Monitor participation and outcomes to assess impact and guide future investments in education and training initiatives
Funding & Sustainability Support
- In coordination with the Director of Philanthropy, support targeted fundraising, including:
- cultivating foundation and corporate funder relationships,
- participating in donor meetings,
- contributing to strategy on earlylearningrelated grants.
- Identify and support funding opportunities aligned with ELC priorities, including grants and partnerships
- Prepare content expertise, outcome data, and narrative contributions for grant applications and funder reporting
- Track deliverables and timelines for grantfunded ELC initiatives as assigned
Administrative & Organizational Alignment
- Ensure alignment between coalition activities and BMACs strategic priorities
- Coordinate internally with relevant programs and staff to maximize impact and avoid duplication
- Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
Relevant experience and/or education may be substituted for either education or work history.
- AA degree in education, early childhood education, or related field; bachelors preferred
- Work experience in the field of education or early childhood education
- Program coordination experience
- Demonstrated project management experience in early childhood and parenting education settings preferred
- Demonstrated project management experience in early childhood and parenting education settings preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of best practices in early learning and trauma-informed principles
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent programs and work effectively with diverse populations, including LGBTQ and people of color, as well as individuals of all ages and ability levels.
- Ability to design and develop training programs or other interventions to help families overcome or remediate the obstacles to attaining access to early learning or childcare.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team to achieve objectives and assignments.
- Ability to be flexible when managing changing priorities and schedules, without compromising the quality of outcomes, ability to complete tasks, or uphold commitments.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, set appropriate boundaries, and exercise sound judgement in all decisions.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to write or support grant writing process to secure funding for early learning programs.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and community partners.
- Ability to write or facilitate grant writing process to secure funding for early learning programs.
- Knowledge of barriers to providing early learning and childcare, particularly for lower income families and in rural areas
Certifications
- Valid drivers license by the time of hire with good driving record.
- Must provide own vehicle for travel and must maintain current auto insurance. Mileage will be reimbursed according to the current IRS mileage rate.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in an office environment. Involves some local and regional travel, and occasional state travel. Scheduling flexibility is required to accommodate evenings and weekends.
