We’re seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you’ll help maintain accurate financial records, support monthly and annual close processes, and ensure strong accounting controls. You’ll play a key part in journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support—helping keep our financial operations running smoothly and transparently.
What You'll Do
Core Responsibilities
Core Accounting Operations
- Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate and complete recording of financial transactions
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities for assigned areas
- Maintain general ledger integrity, including detailed account reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Analyze account activity and investigate variances, anomalies, and discrepancies
Accounts Payable and Receivable Support
- Support AP and AR processes, including invoice validation, payment processing, and customer payment application
- Reconcile vendor and customer accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor transactional accuracy across systems (NetSuite, Brex)
Inventory and Cost Accounting
- Support inventory-related accounting, including transaction validation, reconciliations, and costing adjustments
- Assist with inventory close processes and related reporting
- Partner with operations to ensure accuracy of inventory data and financial impact
Cash & Banking
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Support cash management processes, including tracking inflows/outflows and assisting with short-term cash visibility
- Maintain accurate cash records and support internal controls over cash transactions
Financial Reporting
- Assist in preparation of financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP
- Maintain accurate financial data and ensure timely availability for reporting and analysis
- Contribute to recurring reporting packages (monthly, quarterly)
Governance, Controls, and Audit
- Execute and support internal control procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP
- Assist in documenting processes and improving control frameworks
- Support external audit and internal audit activities, including preparation of audit schedules and responses
- Support compliance with state, federal, and international accounting and reporting requirements, supporting both statutory (regulatory) and internal management reporting
- Ensure data integrity across financial systems and reporting outputs
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of accounting processes
- Support system enhancements, automation initiatives, and data integrity improvements
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives impacting finance operations
Other
- Support ad hoc projects and analysis as required
- Maintain high standards of ethical financial conduct and compliance
What You Bring
Must Haves:
- Strong analytical and math skills
- General accounting skills
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, including Excel, and NetSuite
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain a strong work ethic and positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of GAAP
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Strategic thinking skills
- Ability to prioritize and work autonomously, with efficiency and accuracy
Nice-to-Haves:
- CPA, CPA eligible, or CMA is preferred
- Experience with inventory and cost accounting, closing cycles, and reconciliation preferred
Education & Experience
We're Looking For:
- A minimum of an Associate Degree is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is preferred
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience, preferably including exposure to e-commerce, manufacturing, or retail industries
- Public accounting experience preferred, particularly in audit and internal controls
