Kitchen Assistant – Meal Prep & Operations

Job Overview
Join our fast-growing meal prep team as a Kitchen Assistant, where your efficiency, focus, and dedication will help fuel our weekly production cycles. In this role, you will support bulk food preparation, precise portioning, packaging, and order assembly. Your energy and sharp attention to detail will ensure every customer receives fresh, delicious, and accurately built meals delivered with the highest standards of food safety and quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Bulk Food Prep: Wash, chop, trim, cook, and assemble high volumes of fresh ingredients following standardized batch recipes and production sheets.
- Portioning & Packaging: Precisely measure, portion, and assemble individual and family-style meals using kitchen scales to meet strict nutrition and macro specifications.
- Food Safety & Cold-Chain Standards: Strictly follow food safety protocols, proper temperature monitoring (cooling/chilling logs), and sanitation procedures to maintain freshness throughout packaging and storage.
- Equipment & Sanitation: Safely operate bulk culinary tools and appliances (commercial ovens, stoves); maintain spotless, sanitized workstations, utensils, and packing stations throughout prep and pack days
- Fulfillment & Labeling: Assist with container sealing, accurate meal labeling, customer order sorting, and staging packages for delivery or pickup.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certifications: Current Food Handler Permit (or state/county-equivalent food safety card) required upon hire or within 30 days of employment. ServSafe Food Handler certification i
- Experience: Previous experience in a high-volume meal prep business, catering, or commercial kitchen is a plus, but not required
.
- Precision & Consistency: High attention to detail with the ability to follow recipes exactly and portion meals consistently using scales.
- Physical & Fast-Paced Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive motions (chopping, scooping, sealing), work comfortably in cool/refrigerated prep areas, and lift up to 40–50 lbs comfortably.
- Communication & Reliability: Punctual, dependable, with clear communication skills and a positive, team-first attitude during busy production pushes.
