PAX Payments Expert - Implementation and Management

This is a 4-6 month REMOTE contract opportunity

We are seeking an experienced PAX and Fiserv Payments Operations Expert to lead the optimization, stabilization, and proactive management of our payment device infrastructure across more than 6,000 PAX AP920 Pro devices. This role will be critical in transitioning our payment operations from a reactive to a proactive posture, ensuring seamless transaction flows from the POS through to the bank settlement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deploy, configure, and manage PAX systems (preferably across large-scale retail environments).
• Perform firmware and OS updates on PAX AP920 Pro devices and troubleshoot device or transaction flow issues.
• Collaborate with Fiserv and internal Treasury teams to ensure secure and uninterrupted transaction processing.
• Define and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for device management, firmware updates, and transaction validation.
• Lead the rollout and integration of PAX Marketplace Premium Services, including building a remote access solution for real-time diagnostics and recovery.
• Audit and refine payment and credit transaction processes to prevent data loss and ensure accuracy.
• Analyze existing toolsets and recommend proactive monitoring solutions to ensure all devices are operational and tracked.
• Identify process gaps, establish controls, and take ownership of resolution efforts—reducing finger-pointing and driving accountability.

Qualifications:

• 5–10 years of experience in payment systems, credit operations, or related technical roles.
• Proven track record deploying and managing PAX solutions for large enterprise environments (6,000 devices).
• Hands-on experience with Fiserv integration and support.
• Strong understanding of retail payment environments, credit processing flows, and device communications.
• Demonstrated ability to build SOPs and work across departments, including Treasury.
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills and a proactive, ownership-driven work style.
