Overview
A growing automation engineering group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design and execution of complex industrial automation and capital equipment projects. This role is focused on electrical system architecture, control panel design, power distribution, electrical drawing packages, and supporting projects through installation and commissioning.
The position is onsite in Atlanta or Milwaukee with occasional site travel.
Electrical System Design
- Develop electrical system architecture for automated equipment, industrial machinery, and conveyor-based systems
- Produce electrical drawing packages including schematics, panel layouts, single-line diagrams, network drawings, and installation details
- Design control panels, power distribution, safety circuits, and motor control systems
- Specify electrical components including transformers, drives, I/O hardware, sensors, and safety devices
Technical Leadership
- Lead or participate in electrical design reviews and help ensure design standards are followed
- Provide technical support to project and controls engineers
- Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and project management teams during system design
Project Execution
- Support installation and commissioning of systems, including troubleshooting and design updates
- Produce redlines, as-built documentation, and engineering change updates
- Work with vendors and fabrication teams to ensure proper panel builds and electrical integration
Standards & Compliance
- Ensure designs comply with electrical codes and safety standards including UL, NEC, NFPA, and IEC
- Contribute to the development of internal electrical design standards and best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- 2 years of electrical design experience in industrial automation, capital equipment, manufacturing equipment, machinery, or related environments
- Strong experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software
- Experience designing control panels, power distribution systems, motor control circuits, and electrical schematics
- Knowledge of industrial control components including VFDs, PLC, sensors, I/O, safety devices, and electrical enclosures
- Familiarity with electrical codes and safety standards including UL, NEC, and NFPA

- Approximately 10% to 25% travel for project commissioning and site support
- Opportunity to work on complex automation projects across distribution and manufacturing facilities
- Compensation range is $80k - $120k DOE
