Blue Bell Creameries has three plants of which manufacture ice cream. We currently have opportunities for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our Forklift Section in the Brenham, TX location. The candidates should have great attention to detail, work in a team setting and enjoy the challenges that a dynamic food manufacturing facility has to offer.
Position Summary:
Perform preventative maintenance on plant hydraulic equipment, as well as troubleshooting, repairing of equipment and machinery while adhering to all safety rules and regulations. Also, be responsible for performing a combination of tasks including repairing and maintaining pallet jacks, electric forklifts and other mechanical equipment. Be able to work 45-hour work week. Be willing to work some Saturdays and Holidays. Must be able to work with and learn from others in a team environment. Some work in the cold storage areas will also be required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and make repairs on electric forklifts, pallet jacks, Genie boom lifts, scissor lifts, walk-behind floor scrubbers, dock levelers and various other equipment.
- Maintain documentation and work order details for preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance repairs.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and company policies.
- Ensure good housekeeping practices are understood and followed.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 years' maintenance experience and/or training
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude is required, basic Math skills are preferred and must know how to use a tape measure and a volt meter.
- Some basic lubrication/ electrical/ mechanical/ hydraulic/ shaft & pulley alignment/ preventative maintenance inspection and repair experience is a plus.
- Shop tool skills and knowledge such as: Drill press / Bandsaw / Bench Grinder / Angle Grinder / Bead Blaster / Hand Tools / Shop welding equipment are a plus.
