Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Environmental and Infrastructure Coordinator at our Sylacauga, AL manufacturing plant. The Environmental and Infrastructure Compliance Coordinator supports the Corporate Environmental and Infrastructure Compliance Manager by maintaining regulatory documentation, conducting environmental monitoring, supporting safety initiatives, and assisting with compliance-related training. This role helps ensure that Blue Bell Creameries maintains compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete assigned compliance projects efficiently and accurately.
- Maintain all environmental and safety documents/permits on site in accordance with company procedures.
- Perform storm water monitoring and sampling at assigned facilities.
- Attend seminars and workshops related to new regulations and safe practices.
- Maintain logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements.
- Provide cooperation and serve as back-up support for Corporate Environmental and Infrastructure Compliance Manager.
- Conduct employee training as required for compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Maintain working knowledge of current federal, OSHA, and state regulations relevant to assigned duties.
- Assist with the Management of Change (MOC) processes and ensure accurate Process Safety Information (PSI).
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses; track and close corrective actions promptly.
- Coordinate efforts across departments and contractors to ensure seamless implementation of compliance, safety, and risk management initiatives.
- Provide training programs for employees and contractors on environmental compliance, PSM, and risk management protocols to strengthen organizational safety culture.
- Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate with other departments to schedule and conduct joint inspections, ensuring all operational areas meet compliance standards.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or three (3) years of related experience/training; or a satisfactory combination of education and experience.
- Detailed knowledge of federal, state/provincial, and local EHS regulations.
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) is advantageous.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions to achieve goals.
- Experience as a field team leader, incident commander, and/or Emergency Operations Center (EOC) leader during live (non-training) incidents.
- Certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar credentials are advantageous.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions when conducting facility inspections or environmental sampling.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or elevated platforms as needed for facility assessments.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other equipment as required.
- Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms, medical codes or alarms).
- Ability to of visual acuity both near and far: Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers, as well as clarity of vision at 20 feet or more- this is not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well.
- Ability to safely navigate manufacturing areas, which may include wet floors, moderate noise, and moving equipment.
- Ability to conduct fieldwork involving walking on uneven surfaces.
- Visual acuity sufficient to read permits, documentation, and regulatory materials and to collect/observe samples.
- Ability to travel locally between facilities as required.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in both office and industrial facility environments.
- Exposure to noise, temperature variations, odors, and production-related conditions may occur.
- Occasional travel to training sessions, workshops, or other Blue Bell facilities may be required.
- Work environment subject to change based on duties performed.
