Parlor Clerk

Role Summary

The Parlor Clerk is responsible for providing friendly, efficient customer service in a parlor or service counter environment while maintaining cleanliness, food safety, and operational standards. This role supports daily operations by preparing products, handling transactions, and ensuring a positive customer experience while following company policies and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers in a courteous and professional manner and respond to inquiries promptly.
• Prepare and serve food and beverage items according to established procedures and food safety standards.
• Accurately operate point‑of‑sale (POS) systems, handle cash, and process transactions.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and seating areas in compliance with health regulations.
• Stock supplies, rotate inventory, and report shortages or quality issues.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and company policies and procedures.
• Support team members during peak service periods to ensure efficient operations.
• Perform opening, closing, and side duties assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Basic math and cash‑handling skills.
• Attention to detail with a focus on cleanliness, quality, and accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in food service, retail, or customer service preferred but not required.
• Food handler or food safety certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Physical Requirements

• Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers for handling food items, utensils, containers, and POS equipment.
• Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Reaching/Bending: Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and turning during service and cleaning tasks.
• Vision: Ability to maintain visual acuity for reading labels, operating equipment, and interacting with customers.
• Hearing/Speaking: Ability to communicate clearly with customers and coworkers in a noisy environment.

Work Environment

• Work is performed in a parlor or food service setting with exposure to food preparation equipment, refrigeration units, and cleaning chemicals.
• Environment may include cold and warm temperatures, depending on tasks and equipment used.
• Moderate to high noise levels during peak business periods.
• Position may require working weekends, holidays, early mornings, or evenings based on business needs.
• Work environment subject to change based on duties performed.
