Responsibilities
- Prepare compounded medications accurately following prescribed formulas, ensuring strict adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Assist pharmacists with medication preparation for LTC, hospital, and acute care patients, including IV infusion compounding.
- Manage medication intake processes by verifying prescriptions, checking medical terminology, and documenting compounding procedures thoroughly.
- Maintain a sterile environment by following proper aseptic techniques during medication preparation and handling of sterile products.
- Support patient service efforts by providing clear communication regarding medication instructions and addressing patient inquiries with professionalism.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards related to pharmacy operations, medication administration, and medical terminology accuracy.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy plans and ensure timely delivery of compounded medications.
Experience
- Prior pharmacy technician experience with a focus on compounding or sterile preparations is highly preferred.
- Experience working in LTC pharmacy, hospital environments, or acute care settings is advantageous.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and IV infusion techniques.
- Critical care experience or familiarity with complex medication regimens enhances your ability to succeed in this role.
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique protocols and pharmacy safety standards is essential for maintaining a sterile environment.
