Job Title: Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Home & Community Companion
Location: Blair County, PA
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time
Pay:$16 to $19
Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide in-home and community-based support to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. This role focuses on enhancing quality of life through companionship, daily living support, and community engagement.
DSPs play a vital role in promoting independence, dignity, and meaningful connections for the individuals we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide companionship and emotional support in a respectful and person-centered manner
- Assist with daily living activities (light housekeeping, meal preparation, organization)
- Support individuals in community integration (shopping, outings, appointments, social events)
- Encourage and assist with goal development and independence skills
- Provide transportation as needed (valid driver’s license required)
- Maintain accurate documentation of services and progress notes
- Follow individualized care plans and ensure health and safety standards are met
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and families
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience in caregiving, human services, or DSP role preferred (but not required)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass background checks and required clearances
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
