Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly.
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs and assist residents during meal times to promote independence.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and adherence to infection control protocols.
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental well-being.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA, including incident reports and progress notes.
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), or in hospice or senior care settings is highly valued.
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, and medication administration.
- Experience in group home settings or assisted living facilities is preferred.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or nursing assistant credentials are a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate mobility aids like Hoyer lifts when supporting residents with mobility challenges.
- Familiarity with home health care practices, patient monitoring tools, and creating or following personalized care plans enhances your ability to succeed in this role.
