What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information Technology Support Specialist position at BLS IT?
Support Technician — Ground-Floor Opportunity at BLS IT
Location: NorthShore MA / Boston Area
Type: Full-Time (Entry–Mid Level)
Anticipated Hiring Time Frame: Q1 2026
Company: BLS IT, a division of Boston Light & Sound, proudly operating for nearly 50 years.
About Us
BLS IT is a newly formed technology division under Boston Light & Sound, a trusted audiovisual and cinema support organization that has been in business for almost half a century. We’re building something new, fast, and ambitious — and we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us from the ground up.
If you’re passionate about technology, hungry to learn, energized by challenges, and eager to help shape the foundation of a new IT operation, this is a rare opportunity to get in early.
What You’ll Do
As a Support Technician, you’ll be hands-on with a wide variety of tasks, including:
• Providing Tier 1–2 support to clients and internal users
• Troubleshooting desktops, networking, printers, and cloud services
• Setting up new systems, managing deployments, and assisting with project work
• Documenting processes and helping establish operational standards
• Working directly with leadership as we scale and refine our service offerings
This role will evolve — quickly. If you want predictable and repetitive, this isn’t it. If you want growth, challenges, and the chance to influence how things are built… keep reading.
Who We’re Looking For
We're not hunting for decades of experience — we’re looking for the right mindset:
• Motivated, ambitious, and excited to build
• Technically curious and always learning
• Comfortable with a fast-moving, startup-style environment
• Willing to take ownership and solve problems independently
• Flexible schedule and ability to adapt as we scale
• Keeps a cool head in stressful situations
• Had a positive attitude and is always happy to help someone
• Able to thrive even when resources are lean and processes are still developing
This is an ideal role for someone early in their IT career who wants accelerated growth, direct mentorship, and real responsibility — not someone looking to coast.
What We Offer
Because this is a ground-floor opportunity, compensation will start lean — but:
• Clear, structured growth path as the division expands
• Direct input into shaping tools, processes, and technologies
• Exposure to a wide range of IT systems (far more than a typical helpdesk role)
• A stable foundation backed by a parent company with nearly 50 years in business
• A chance to be part of the story from day one
Qualifications Required:
• Basic understanding of Windows environments, networking fundamentals, and PC troubleshooting
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks independently
• Valid Drivers License
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Nice to Have:
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure AD, or RMM tools
• Windows Active Directory
• Mac & Linux experience
• Hyper-V, VMware, etc
• Exposure to small-business IT environments
• CompTIA A or similar certifications
