Mechanical Insulation Foreman

As a Mechanical Insulation Foreman in the oil and gas sector, you will lead a skilled team of insulation technicians, ensuring the installation, maintenance, and repair of insulation systems are executed safely and efficiently. You will oversee projects from planning to completion, coordinating resources, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and mentor insulation technicians, assigning tasks and providing guidance to ensure high-quality workmanship.
• Plan and coordinate insulation projects, including resource allocation, scheduling, and logistics to meet deadlines and budget requirements.
• Conduct inspections of insulation installations, ensuring adherence to specifications, industry standards, and safety protocols.
• Promote a culture of safety on-site by enforcing safety practices, conducting regular safety meetings, and ensuring all team members use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, and other trades to facilitate collaboration and resolve any issues that arise during the project.
• Maintain accurate records of project progress, materials used, and safety compliance, preparing reports as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

COMPETENCIES

• In-depth knowledge of insulation materials, installation techniques, and applicable safety regulations
• Ability to read and apply information from blueprints, specifications, and project plans
• Strong leadership skills with clear verbal and written communication; effective at organizing teams and workflows
• Proactive planning, scheduling, and coordination to meet project timelines and quality standards
• Safe and effective use of hand tools, power tools, ladders, and related equipment
• Comfortable working outdoors in varied temperatures; able to climb ladders/scaffolds, bend, twist, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and routinely lift/push/pull 50 lbs
• Meticulous work habits to ensure sites are left in top condition and all safety protocols are followed

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Technical certification in mechanical insulation or a related field (preferred)
• Minimum of 10 years of mechanical insulation work in the oil & gas industry, including supervisory responsibility
• Technical insulation certification (as above)
• OSHA safety training (e.g., 10- or 30-hour card) or equivalent safety credentials
• Any client- or site-specific equipment certifications (e.g., scaffolding, confined-space entry)
