Role Description
The Retail Sales Associate is a part-time, on-site position based at Blossoms Full-Service Florist in Royal Oak, MI. This role involves greeting customers, understanding their needs, and guiding them in selecting floral arrangements, plants, and gifts that suit their occasion and budget. The associate will process sales transactions, handle phone and in-store orders, and support daily shop operations such as merchandising, restocking, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. Responsibilities may also include assisting designers with basic floral preparation, packaging arrangements for pickup or delivery, and coordinating with team members to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. The role requires consistent, friendly customer interaction and a focus on delivering an exceptional in-store experience.
Qualifications
- Availability: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday, 9am-5pm, July 2026-March 2027
- Ability to apply strong Product Knowledge to floral arrangements, plants, and gift items, and to explain features and options clearly to customers.
- Retail Sales and Sales skills, including recommending products, upselling when appropriate, and meeting individual and store sales goals.
- Excellent Communication skills, with the ability to listen actively, ask clarifying questions, and provide clear information in person and over the phone.
- Customer Service experience, with a focus on creating a welcoming atmosphere, resolving concerns, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced retail environment, including standing for extended periods and handling peak holiday and event seasons.
- Attention to detail and basic math skills for accurate order entry, cash handling, and inventory support.
- Collaborative mindset and reliability, with the ability to follow store procedures and work well within a small team.
- Previous retail, floral, or hospitality experience is preferred but not required; willingness to learn and interest in flowers and design are highly beneficial.
